Everything Not Saved - Dublin Fringe 2017
An excerpt of the sound design I contributed to the award-winning Everything Not Saved, by Malaprop Theatre. The play is, according to the Irish Times, “a fascinating, maze-like meditation on reminiscence and record”.
What you hear is the final sequence, where four progressively older voices suggest to the audience the ways in which their memory of the show will degrade after 5 minutes, 5 hours, 5 days, all the way up to 5 decades from leaving the theatre.
Taking inspiration from William Basinski’s Disintegration Loops, themselves a study in entropy and ageing, I tried to guide the piece through a natural process of degradation: from vibrant to barely existing.
